Happy Fourth of July!
We are excited for America's birthday and have lined up a fun weekend for y'all. Come stop by our Louisville shop on Sunday from 11 am - 1 pm for a real musical treat, we are honored to host Zivanai Masango & Friends for the second time, and our friend Catherine (founder of WishGarden Herbs) is in the band! Zivanai Masango grew up immersed in music in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Currently residing in the US, Zivanai carves a place for himself in the hearts and minds of audiences and musicians alike with his sweet, sincerely heartfelt style of guitar playing. Zivanai’s work as a recording artist and band leader disregards categorization and reflects the various influences that have shaped him into the consummate musician he is today. A master of the beautifully rhythmic Southern African style, Zivanai fuses these sensibilities with Western genres such as Jazz, Blues, Funk and Rock to create compelling flights of melodic inspiration.
We've also got some sensational treats for eating! Our Moxie flavor makers have come up with some crazy delicious new offerings.... starting with the Moxie Turtle (Milk Chocolate, Hazelnut, Pecan, Caramel). We'll also have a Butterscotch Blondie, and are introducing some house made Moxie Jam...including Raspberry + Tarragon and Strawberry + Passionfruit.
And for the grill we are loaded down with Denver's finest River Bear meats including Brats, Burgers and Summer Sausage and some soft and sweet Challah Buns to go with them. Don't forget about our well stocked beverage corner bursting with cool refreshing whiskey, gin, mezcal, wine and lots of my new favorite Weld Works beer.
And to top it off we are excited to launch the all new Oatis Lovesicles (frozen oat pop) Cool and refreshing as wild oats blowing in the afternoon rain.
Today we bid dear Joan farewell as she embarks on the next chapter of her life returning to school and hanging up her dusty flour covered overalls. Joan has been with us for many years in the bakery and most recently heading up our new flour mill in Boulder. Joan helped to build the mill from the ground up from the artwork adorning the packaging, to the copy written on the bag to the selection of grain and quite often under the hood of the mill with me turning wrenches when mechanical issues arose. We love our Joan so much and will forever appreciate and remember her contributions to the mill, Moxie and our community. If you know Joan you know the amazing depth of character, warmth, creativity and uncanny ability to make beautiful things happen with ridiculous consistency.
Here is an original song by Zivanai Masango based on the traditional Chikende song/rhythm/mode/genre.
