Jerusalem Bagel Day Today

Well it turns out people like warm clothes and Kari Traa! My wife and her amazing volunteer crew (thank you!!!!!!) made 2 more trips back to the warehouse to re-stock. They raised over $8,000 for the Community Foundation Boulder County Wildfire Fund and early estimates indicate that Kari Traa gave away something like $50,000 dollars worth of clothing in 5 hours. This was such a success that we are going to do another one later in the week. Stay tuned.

My friend Erin sent me this note the other day: The fires brought so much grief and overwhelm as I consider so many displaced, as well as the effects of climate change as well as our own experiences…the more I learn about trauma, it’s a humbling challenge and task to heal for ourselves, our children and this place. I’ve heard Tami is a force and these days it feels good to align with such wisdom. Thought I’d share some good medicine as we find our way.

Dr. Jeffrey Rutstein, an expert in trauma healing, predicted the collective trauma we are currently experiencing as a result of the ongoing global pandemic. He saw a "tsunami of trauma" descending upon us, compounded by the collective traumas people of certain races and economic statuses would also suffer.

What’s more, collective trauma may not be the only type of trauma you’re experiencing. Perhaps someone has inflicted personal trauma upon you, including sexual or physical abuse. Or you may be suffering from intergenerational trauma: trauma passed down from your parents and your parents’ parents.

As devastating as these types of trauma are, there is something that we, everyday people, can do.

We can learn how to heal ourselves and, in doing so, assist in healing others.

Sounds True founder Tami Simon joins Dr. Rutstein for Transforming Trauma, a FREE webinar aimed at helping us recognize our trauma triggers, anticipate the effect they will have on us, and provide tips and tools to help self-regulate during times of stress. In doing so, we will effectively become a healing presence in the room—a solid foundation on which others can also gain footing.

We invite you to attend this FREE Q&A webinar with Dr. Jeffrey Rutstein and Tami Simon.

Join us on January 20, at 1 pm ET | 10 am PT

Here is Bela's new band at The Ryman a couple of nights ago. It's clear Bela is carving yet another new trail in the musical forest. I think it was the strong espresso he pounded at Moxie Lyons back in the summer everyday that help create some new neural bluegrass pathways in his mind.... right?
