Music on The Menu
We will closing all locations early today for an all staff grain training. We have so many wonderful local and regional grains with so many unique attributes including color, flavor, protein, digestibility, baking quality, aroma and terroir. These grains come from farmers all across the state and in the American West. It is going to be a treat to do a deep dive with our staff today. Lyons will close at 2 PM and NOBO and LSVL at 3 pm.
We are also rolling out a new program to show our support of our back of house staff by adding a 2% production/ service fee to all tickets. This extra money will help to support higher wages for our non tipped employees. As our food cost and labor cost have both grew more than 25% during the pandemic this will help to keep us in balance.
This was a weekend full of music including Record Store Day. Did anyone pick up some new vinyl? Paradise Found was rocking and the line was around the block. We are now stocking records from Vinyl Me, Please at NoBo and in Lyons. These are audiophile 180 gram records of rare and special release music ranging from re-mastered classic Blue Note to West African Funk and Hip Hop to Beck, Loretta Lynn, Big Thief and Grimes.
It was cool to see lots of smiling faces and dancing bodies at E-Town and Bluebird Music Festival. Some highlights of this weekend's music were: Waxahachee, Patrick Dethlefs, Big Richard, Colin Meloy, The Lone Bellow and Scott T. Smith.
Music is back on the menu. Concerts are abundant and I can't wait to make up for these past two years. Lucinda Williams played her heart out last week at The Boulder Theater, post stroke she is singing stronger than I have heard her do in years.
We'll be announcing some stellar Moxie music in the coming days...so stay tuned.
Here's a little taste of Waxahatchee from KEXP
