Mardi Gras & COCKTAILS!!!

Boy do I wish I was in New Orleans right now. Chaya down at Bywater Bakery in NOLA just finished making 18,000 King Cakes out of a bakery just about the size of Moxie. One time on St Joseph's Day Chaya led us around the back alleys of New Orleans following lines of dancing and singing Indians for one of the most magical night of my life. It became apparent to me during that trip that the very soul of the most original American art form of jazz and blues percolated from the swamps and flat lands around that fine city. We stopped in for turkey necks at Kermit's Treme Mother In Law Lounge and then hit the Lamp Lighter Lounge for Treme Brass Band while drinking whisky from the bottle and eating sweet andouille. Just another night in NOLA I think.

Anyway, here we are in Louisville Colorado and tonight we will be drinking a drink of our own.

Trace Bundy, Acoustic Ninja also has an uncanny knack with making delicious cocktails in addition to absolutely shredding the six string.

Hand-crafted by our very own Louisville musical megalodon. Each mason jar makes two cocktails (insert photo of Trace on extinct mackerel shark)

THE LAST WORD:

This distinctive cocktail predates the prohibition era, and has withstood the tests of time, due to it’s unique flavor palate.

FEATURES: Leopold’s Gin (Denver), Génépy le Chamois, Lazzaroni Maraschino Liqueur, fresh lime juice, Luxardo cherry.

Serve chilled and straight up. Chill 2 glasses in advance, pour, and ENJOY!

Serve chilled and straight up. Chill 2 glasses in advance, pour, and Twist the lemon peel to express some lemon oil on top. ENJOY!

THE SAZERAC:

This wonderfully fragrant cocktail is the quintessential New Orleans drink. While it’s origins date back to the mid-1800s, it has recently been crowned the official cocktail of New Orleans.

FEATURES: Old Standard Rye (Fort Collins), Peychaud’s Bitters, raw sugar syrup, lemon oil, Absinthe rinse. These drinks are made in mason jars for your at home drinking pleasure. Each jar makes two cocktails.

These will be available from noon on today at Louisville only while supplies last. We have our King Cakes available for pick up today as well along with limited amounts for walk up purchase.

Did anyone tune in to the amazing Marshall Fire Benefit Concert last night? What a wonderful evening. So nice to see some of you at E-Town Hall last night. Do you ever wonder what look you might get on your face when Nick lets you play his 1959 Strat late night? Well, looky here and I'll show ewe.

Somehow this dimly lit fuzzy video is the perfect rendering of a night in NOLA in my mind:
