Wonder Women
I am going to re-post my recent Instagram post from this week since I am still feeling irritated about the whole thing and this might help me get over it, so thanks for listening.
Man, this whole Covid divide sucks. I’ve got trolls crawling all over my socials throwing mud and wishing me "well wishes" for the future of my business because I require our staff to be vaccinated. For the record I hate masks, but they seem to save lives. I hate the fact that a number of my employees turned me into a villain because I gave them 6 weeks of gainful employment while I allowed them to find new work or get vaccinated, I hate that science has become a political game. I was an anti vaxer too before Covid came along. I hate the government telling me what to do with my body. I hate that the far left has become the near right. There are so many things that I love that I’d rather focus on than telling angry anti vaxers to kiss my ass, but here I am.
On a more cheerful note, I would like to acknowledge and celebrate the many women in my life starting with my mother who raised me to be who I am today (at least the best parts of me) as a single mother working multiple jobs while putting herself through nursing school and putting food on our table, she always took the high road, and usually the hard road. The example she set of determination, work ethic and getting shit done left an indelible mark. My wife Phillippa is the best mother I have ever seen to our boys and she pours her love over them every minute and allows me to be the Moxie maniac while she mother ducks our boys down this river. Moxie is made up of strong women from the back to the front of house and somehow I am lucky enough to be surrounded by so much love. Yesterday I stopped in to see Jordan at Green Pony and found a really cool old Lee work shirt with the word Equity stitched into it. Later that day I stopped Anne Cure's greenhouse and knew that shirt was meant for her. Raquel and Anne were doing some work in the greenhouse and she put that shirt right on like the boss she is and got on about her work. It seems funny that we are reduced to one day to technically appreciate women, and clearly that is not the point. I find it ridiculous that some old fashioned notion of male superiorty even can exist in 2022, but clearly it does. Business, politics, education, sports....you name it and there are some way out of balance male favoring unwritten rules and BS going down. I hope this changes, and will do my part to help.
Speaking of women, I am heading to Expo West tomorrow to help Rainbow from The Merc and Lark Love get the word out about her new product. Lark Love is a plant based female lubricant and moisturizer. She keeps joking about dressing me up as the Vulva De Guadalupe, and somehow I think it might be fun. Still working on my sales pitches, and feeling better about them each day. I've sold a lot of things to a lot of people, but this is new territory. Check out their video. Phillippa did the voice over, and Meg DeRosa who created our Moxie Feed & Seed logo is the star of the film along with all of the lovely ladies of Jimtown. If anyone is going to be at Expo hit me up by email. andy@moxiebreadco.com
