eTown & WWKIPD

It seems like this summer done went and took off like a bottle rocket and it 'aint looking like it's gonna slow down. Maybe we are just making up for lost time? Here's what's on this week's agenda:

This Thursday come join us at eTown in Boulder for another Community Cafe! eTown is excited to continue hosting community events downstairs in the cafe at eTown Hall. We are helping to provide delicious food, heart crafted drinks, and intimate music for you to enjoy in community. So come break bread with us!!

This month, we are thrilled to welcome the talented band Sturtz to eTown. The acoustic quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals, guitar], Jim Herlihy [banjo], Courtlyn Carpenter [cello], and Will Kuepper [bass] – falls somewhere at the intersection of folk and soul, with lead singer Andrew Sturtz’s melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals. Sturtz is based in Boulder, CO, and the band was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered in 2020 and released their first full-length album in August 2021.

Suerte Tequila of Boulder is a generous sponsor of this event, and Rainbow is crafting up some cray cocktails available for your sipping pleasure. Laurence Spiewak co-founder and Boulderite is one of the kindest of friends I know and his support of eTown's Community Cafe is deeply appreciated.

We will also be serving some stellar wood fired food from chefs Rainbow Shultz (the Jamestown Mercantile Cafe), Jennifer Messinger (Lucky's Bakehouse and Creamery), Daniel Asher (Ash'Kara & River and Woods), and his very own self Andy Clark.

Devon said Nick is out of town, and I was thinking we could pick the lock to the guitar closet and rock out a little? The 1959 Strat always sounds pretty legit. Don't tell Nick.

Menu for the evening:

Woodfired heirloom pizza made with India Jammu flour grown in Boulder - Ash'Kara chicken shwarma with an arugula, garlic and sunflower seed pesto, with Aleppo pepper dollap & tzakakakie.

Farm fresh Merc Mediterranean salad trio

Lucky's Lemon Ricotta donut holes

Tickets are available HERE.

What's that you ask? When is World Wide Knit In Public Day? Man, you guys knew it, it is this Saturday!!! Knitters, Crafters and Makers- Please come to WWKIPDay at Moxie Bread Co in Louisville Colorado on Saturday June 11 2022 (11AM-1PM) and KNIT IN PUBLIC. Meet your neighbors and fellow handworkers. Project donations will be offered to crafters affected by the Marshall Fire. With the generous support from Crystal Palace Bamboo, and WEBS yarn, a limited number of project bags are available to knitters/makers lost their stash or those seeking comfort in handwork. Bring your WIP (Work in Progress), appropriate dress & water, and come KIP (Knit in Public) on June 11 in LOUISVILLE.

Note from local fiber artist Tara, the organizer, on how it came to be: After the fire, once my evacuated family returned to the home they still had, I asked myself -what can I do? How can I help? I thought - If I had lost everything, I know I would really need my knitting! So I called up my yarn and knitting people to collect project donations. I have approximately 50 projects for hats, scarves and shawls donated by WEBS Yarn (yarn.com) and gorgeous bamboo knitting knitting donated by Crystal Palace Bamboo (cpbamboo.com). I would love to distribute these project bags to knitter who need them. Perhaps those who lost their stash and supplies, as well as those in the community seeking comfort. What better day to share the crafty love but World Wide Knit in Public Day?

We do some fun stuff at Moxie, as well as some very unique stuff, but this one is THE BEST. Hope to see u all there, you little knitters you...
