Prefare + Ginger Pig + FED Today
I was talking to my wife last night about the amazing generosity of the Kari Traa team. Her and her ever expanding team of volunteers gave out another 2 truckloads of fine Norwegian active wear on Monday. It is possible that almost everyone in Louisville and Superior will have a Kari Traa jacket or under layer at this point. And by the way, they also raised another $16,000 for the fire victims with the sample sale whilst giving away thousands of free garments to those who lost theirs.
Trump Can't Come Play
I had a beer last night with Nick and the Forster familia at Verde and we game planned a bit more on our upcoming E-Town fundraiser concert. It is going to be amazing and we are planning on doing it most likely sometime in February. So many musicians are out on tour at the moment and we are working hard to triangulate in on schedules to create a really magical night for everyone.
More Kari Traa, Support for First Responders
I read this last night and wanted to share...it is from the Reader's Write section of The Sun Magazine from June 2021.
Not Angry
If you inbox is getting cluttered with the barrage of stupid Moxie emails every gall dang day, I apologize. I just never felt like I was "heard" until now and I'm making up for lost time..LOL...and it's also that my first morning cup of coffee is always soooo good that I follow it up with another and then start sweating and shaking and have to find a way to get that all out of me....it's like when Matej starts talking about Slovenian wine...passions boil.
Looking for a Bread Baker!
In business news- we are in need of a baker- hit me if that is you. It's a tough job with lots of physical lifting in a small space. Looking for someone with strong kitchen/bakery (or farm) experience...
Jerusalem Bagel Day Today
Well it turns out people like warm clothes and Kari Traa! My wife and her amazing volunteer crew (thank you!!!!!!) made 2 more trips back to the warehouse to re-stock. They raised over $8,000 for the Community Foundation Boulder County Wildfire Fund and early estimates indicate that Kari Traa gave away something like $50,000 dollars worth of clothing in 5 hours. This was such a success that we are going to do another one later in the week. Stay tuned.
Free Women's Activewear at LSVL
In my rush to get up to Eldora yesterday with Theo before the sun was up I managed to omit some critical info about the Kari Traa donation tent today, sorry y'all. I will have the Global Marketing Director review and approve my future updates prior to sending them in the future.
Free Camp and Clothing
We are excited to support our friends @integralsteps who will be hosting a Free Drop-Off Mini-Camp for Those Affected by the Fires. Please Help us spread the word! @moxiebreadco will be helping to provide food and snacks for families.
Epiphany!
It's hard to believe that just one year ago we were glued to the news as a dude who looked like Ted Nugent on Stone Age wildebeest hunting expedition and a gang of ding dongs made an attempt to hijack what is left of our democracy. It's been great to see these individuals get locked up one by one for their crimes. I would love to take our flag back and have it represent all of the wonderful qualities of America again.
What in the actual?
I found this beautiful and poignant song while googling my old favorite local Boulder musician Maya Dorn. I remember her playing around Boulder and just loving her music, and not sure what happened to her. I think this song really sums up the current feeling. It may have some strong language in it, and may not be appropriate for all audiences.
Moxie Update
We are not setting up a formal food program today, as we are taking a moment to plan out a longer term food program with local farms and producers including Conscious Alliance and World Central Kitchen to dovetail our efforts for maximum success. Justin Brunson of River Bear is donating a whole flock of turkeys that we'll be cooking up soon and he's also going to bring his smoker up and serve up some of his out of this world BBQ soon. Lots on the horizon. If you need a meal today, just stop by any Moxie location and tell them you need a meal and it is on us.
Happy New Year
It's been a tough week, teetering atop a tough year. Many friends and neighbors don't have a house to go home to. Our community is incredibly strong, and all of our homes are open to all of you. The outpouring of love and support within the community is a thing of beauty. We will rebuild and we will recover. I will post as many pertinent posts on social for links to donate and support.
Merry Christmas!
If you placed a pre order for Louisville, pick up is today between 11 AM and 2 PM out back in the tent. My mother, son and wife will be collecting your orders, so just head straight to the back if you've already placed an order. Don't let my mom tell you too many stories about my long haired skate boarding youth shenanigans....because she will.
Moxie Update
It's a busy week of back to school activity for many out there. I know that this will be a fun filled week of meeting new friends and getting back to in person learning. I hope that all of the teachers and folks working for the schools enjoyed the summer break. You are all heroes and we deeply appreciate your tireless work in our community.
Happy Fourth of July!
We are excited for America's birthday and have lined up a fun weekend for y'all. Come stop by our Louisville shop on Sunday from 11 am - 1 pm for a real musical treat, we are honored to host Zivanai Masango & Friends for the second time, and our friend Catherine (founder of WishGarden Herbs) is in the band! Zivanai Masango grew up immersed in music in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Any Rye Lovers Out There?
My father is a musician. He used to play at the apple orchards in Massachusetts in autumn, and we'd get to drink cider and eat apple fritters and pet pot bellied pigs and and baby goats while he played acoustic bluegrass and folk music with his best friends in Old Cold Tater, a band that was formed somewhere around the time of my birth consisting of a mail courier, a Harvard drop out, his girlfriend and my father the stone mason.

Fermentation Class with Kirsten Shockey
First off, I want to acknowledge all of the folks who took time to write in and share their story about life through this pandemic. The depth and breadth of the sorrow, pain and suffering alongside the unexpected joys, lessons, adaptations that you shared was profound. I knew that in sharing our stories there is some solace, some letting go and healing.
Lessons, Blessings and Gifts
This Saturday marks our 6th trip around the sun, although it feels more like we've been circling the full moon all these years. Today we elected to lose the mask rule at Moxie, and let our staff breathe deeply for the first time in over a year. Many of our new folks have never shown us their faces. It is crazy to catch the occasional glimpse of someones face at lunch time when you've only known their eyes for so long. Feels like a little birthday present to ourselves. In fact just being here to tell the tale feels like a birthday present unto itself.
We Knead YOU, We are Hiring
We've been working hard to get our new Lyons shop open for the summer. This week we are painting the last few walls, screwing in the last few screws and connecting our brand new espresso machine. We are getting close. If you are interested in joining the Lyons team, we will be looking to fill various positions including baristas, sandwich cooks and more. We also are looking for a few good folks to round out our Louisville and Boulder spots.
