This absolutely transformational gathering is one of the deepest dives into higher education for farmers, bakers, food makers and community builders. The friendships that I have made there over the years have forged some of the strongest bonds I've made in recent times with folks from near and far that have a common interest in healing the planet, nurturing the soil, baking for biodiversity and flavor and nutrition and a whole lot more.

We just crossed our 1 year anniversary of moving into our new milling space up in Boulder on January 5th. We're bad with names....but originally we called it The Millsite, although we called the retail shop Moxie Feed & Seed and recently our team has come up with "The Flour Studio". I think that one is gonna stick.

Tomorrow starts our quarterly Colorado Grain Chain Bakesale For Racial Justice. Was there ever a more perfect time to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion than with the inauguration of the first woman of color gaining the Vice Presidency of America? Kamala Harris, we are here to support and can not wait to see what you accomplish in these next 4 years.

Hello beautiful Saturday morning, it's wonderful to see your sunny smiling face. Front Range winters have always been the best kept secret with so many warm and sunny days...but this is crazy. Will and Laura will be playing music later on today on the balcony from about 10:30- 12:30. I heard a rumor that Will was going to slip a little Dark Star into some old timey river boat song today.....

We are trying to work in some fun new food into our slower days, and that means the return of deep dish black steel pizza. Only available on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for now.

The Colorado Grain Chain is hosting their quarterly Bakesale For Racial Justice #grainchainforchange. This Bakesale raised almost $10K for local BIPOC partners such as BLM 5280 and Frontline Farming last year while raising awareness about racial and social justice.

Y'all bought us clear out of King Cake's yesterday, so our Frenchman and his krewe have been working like crazy (zut alors) to get them back in stock. We have more today available at both locations and will continue to bake them clear through Mardi Gras.

Tomorrow starts Epiphany and our French Pastry Chef Julien is sharing his Epiphany cake with us all! Julien hails from St Tropez France, and after his formal training in France, he landed in America where he worked in both California and Las Vegas before coming to Boulder as the Executive Pastry Chef at The Med. When the Med closed last year we were lucky enough to snag him for ourselves. Julien's wife Teresa is a sommelier at Black Cat in Boulder.

What a year. I've never appreciated all of the decorative pillows at Marshall's and Tj Maxx so much as I have this year. "Blessed", "We Got This", "Grateful". I don't know how they new that I needed the affirmation written on a pillow, not to mention the coffee mug aisle. "Best Dad Ever" "# 1 Mom"- I actually drink from my Best Dad Ever cup most mornings and it gives me a little extra boost. I kid you not. What a year. I have been stretched so thin over and over this past year on a personal and professional level that I was pretty sure something was gonna give out somewhere. But it didn't. It made me stronger and reminded me that smooth seas do not make for a skillful sailor. I remember sailing as a kid on these little boats on the coast of Massachusetts and being out on gusty days where the boat was ripping through the chop and keeling over so hard that the sail was slapping the water...just waiting to capsize and not capsizing.
